TADD Group places 3rd
in OTSD Contest
TADD placed 3rd in their
region for Operation Teen Safety Drive Contest. A
total of 105 schools statewide were selected initially to participate in the
innovative OTSD program, modeled after the Ford Motor Company Fund's nationally
recognized Ford Driving Skills for Life teen safety program.
Allstate
awards the top 5 winning schools in each region a monetary prize ranging from
$2,500- $500. TADD has helped win $1,500 to use toward their post prom
celebration.
They have also been invited to
attend the Ford Ride and Drive Event. This event will
take place in Chicago on April 15-16 and in Springfield on April 18-19. The
Ride and Drive events will feature professional drivers providing young drivers
with rigorous behind the wheel driving exercises, including hazard
recognition/accident avoidance, vehicle handling/skid control and speed/space management.

The I-KAN Regional Office of
Education, along with the Kankakee Public Library are sponsoring a presentation
on May 22nd that addresses the need to instill and reinforce the
concept of digital citizenship. Christine Feller, Internet Safety
Specialist with the Illinois Attorney General’s Office, will discuss the need
for creating a digital culture while highlighting current trends and digital
platforms.
