Early Childhood Program

The Momence Early Childhood Center (MECC) is proud to have 6 half-day sessions that serves approximately 110 students ages 3 to 5 years old. We invite all district families to bring their child into the Momence Early Childhood Center for regularly held screenings that are offered throughout the year (please refer to the district calendar). Our screenings offer you a personal visit that includes vision and hearing, developmental screening in expressive and receptive language, fine and gross motor coordination, cognitive development; self-help skills and, social/emotional development. Families that have any concerns about their child's developmental progress are encouraged to call Momence Early Childhood Center for an appointment with the Director of Student Services to discuss individual concerns to determine if a child should be seen prior to scheduled calendar screening dates. We follow the Early Learning Standards and use the Creative Curriculum model in our classes. Our mission to provide the finest research-based early childhood program to children through a partnership with their family. Our parents are welcomed to be involved through volunteer opportunities, parent education programs, frequent home-school interaction and open door visitations opportunities. We expect our families to regularly attend our wide array of programs as we consider our parents to be their child's first and most important teacher. Momence Early Childhood Center is committed to setting instructional goals that encourage our children to maximize their abilities. Our goal is to support the unique learning needs of all of our students to maximize independence and build a solid foundation. Our Vision is that we hope all of our students, with their diverse learning needs, will be empowered to become life long learners. We feel that the students will use the skills learned at school to make decisions that will allow them to be successful in the global society.
